Absolutely. We have the resources, equipment, and personnel to rapidly respond to both residential and commercial spill emergencies. Our team is available year-round to manage spills safely and efficiently.
We perform property scans using advanced metal detection to locate possible buried tanks and assess the history of fuel oil storage. This is often required during real estate transactions or when environmental risks are suspected.
Our team is experienced in site assessment, sampling, and full-scale remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. We also partner with state-certified laboratories to ensure accurate testing and compliance with environmental regulations.
Yes. We offer no-obligation, no-cost consultations and estimates to help you understand your options and plan the best course of action before any work begins.
Oil tanks are a “big deal” because they can pose serious risks if they leak or fail. Even small leaks can contaminate soil and groundwater, leading to costly cleanups. Properly removing or abandoning a tank protects your property and prevents expensive problems before they occur.
Whether you’re buying or selling a home, safeguarding your investment is essential. A leaking or unaddressed buried tank can cause contamination, leaving the responsibility—and cost—on the new owner.
At Enviroshield, we provide property scans, soil sampling, and removal services to uncover hidden issues and ensure full transparency for both buyers and sellers. If needed, we also assist with the most cost-effective remediation solutions.
At Enviroshield we perform a non-invasive property scan (magnetometer or metal scan) determine if a buried underground fuel storage tank (UST) remains on the subject site, or if evidence of a former UST is evident. The reason for the search is to determine if a subsurface study should be considered to confirm that no environmental impact resulted from the use of an existing or former underground tank system.
Using a Schonstedt ferromagnetic magnetometer, we survey the entire exterior of the property to identify metallic anomalies that could indicate a buried tank.
To complete the scan effectively, we need full access to the home, outbuildings, and surrounding property. Vehicles, dumpsters, or other obstructions must be moved so we can perform a thorough survey.
While our scan can locate ferrous metal, detecting metal does not automatically confirm the presence of a tank; it may indicate other metallic objects underground. If we identify a potential tank, we will recommend a follow-up investigation, such as hand or machine excavation, to confirm the finding.
We provide this service to help property owners, buyers, and sellers identify potential environmental hazards, determine if further subsurface testing is needed, and make informed decisions about property safety and compliance.
Yes, the National Fire Protection Association Code 30 &30A was adopted by CT Legislature. NFPA 30, 2-3.1.1 concluding that underground tanks “temporarily out of service” (OOS) for greater than 90-days must be taken out of service, legally abandoned or removed. Enviroshield, and all regulators, discourage abandonment and recommend it be considered ONLY when a tank is physically unable to be removed without severely damaging or impacting a structure.
